A.M. Best Co. has upgraded Mutual of Omaha's financial strength rating to A+ (Superior) from A (Excellent).
The A+ rating is the second highest of 15 ratings assigned by A.M. Best. According to A.M. Best, the upgrade reflects Mutual
of Omaha's strategic repositioning over the last decade from a major medical health care provider to a diversified health,
life and annuity company.
In upgrading Mutual's ratings, A.M. Best also noted strength in core product growth, which exceeds
industry averages; its well-diversified individual and group business model; and the company's new banking initiative.
"This upgrade is very significant because it represents a vote of confidence in our business strategy
as well as recognition that we have been successful in executing our strategy," said Chairman and CEO Dan Neary.
